Please review the propsed By-law changes for the upcoming 2014-15 season. These changes will be voted on by the membership at the next board meeting on Wednesday, April 16th. The meeting will be held at the MRC at 5:30 PM. Everyone is invited to attend.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the spring tryouts.
The MCSA annual meeting is at the MRC. The president and treasurer will present yearly reports and the slate of directors will be presented and voted upon by the membership at the meeting. Everyone is invited to attend this event.
The following tier designations were approved by the MCSA Board for the 2014-2015 Season:
Tier Designation by Age Group
Squirts: Two equally divided Tier IV teams
Peewees: One Tier III team, one Tier IV team
Bantams: One Tier III team, one Tier IV team
Cost - There are no plans to increase tuition rates at this time (subject to change pending final budget approval in August/September)
Squirts – An Extended Play (EP) team option will be available and include approximately 1 practice per week and 10 games (pending planning and final approval); team roster size, selection process, and costs to be determined.
Peewees – The Tier IV team will play a 16 game schedule against opponents of similar skills outside of the central conference; while the peewees will not participate in the MeAHA Tier 4 league, they will play other Tier 4 teams; the team will also participate in a tournament(s) of their choice.
Bantams - This group remains unchanged.
Development - The board is currently working on expanding the number of practices from 2 to 3 per week (adding skill development practices along with team practices; team practices will pair each age group together - Squirts with Squirts, Peewee T4 with Peewee T3, and Bantams together) without additional costs (potentially 72 practices next season up from 48).
New Programming – The board is currently working on a plan to attract new players to our association; a formal learn to play program is being reviewed that would enable kids at the mites and older age group, who are new to the sport, to learn the game and progress at a comfortable level while participating in recreational hockey.
Atoms & Mites – The Atoms program has doubled in size over the last two years and we want to continue that trend; with the help of MeAHA and our friends at the MRC, we want to build the Atoms/Mites program even bigger, but we’ll need your help to do so!
Growth and participation at the younger age groups is vital to the success of our association overall. We are seeking volunteers that can help with the planning and execution of our growth and development initiatives for next year. Our goal is to bring in more Atom and Mite players into our association, to introduce new players to hockey, and to get parents and players engaged in the fun, camaraderie, and passion that makes this sport so special. We are forming a “Grow The Game” committee and welcome your help! If you are interested in lending a hand, please contact Katie Butler at email@example.com.
Tier III Tryouts
Tryouts will be conducted on March 18 & 25 to determine rosters for the Bantam Tier III and the Peewee Tier III teams. This is not an evaluation for all players, this is a tryout for peewee and bantam aged players who want to be considered for their respective Tier III team. Only those players with the desire to be considered for the Tier III team should attend tryouts.
