The Maine Coast Skaters Association offers co-ed youth ice hockey programs that begin in late September and run through the end of March. Information on our programs can be found on the About Our Programs page of the the Teams tab. We hope you consider joining our community for both recreational and competitive hockey.

2017-18 Pre-Season Clincs

Starting the week of September 18th MCSA, in partnership with MRC, will offer two three-week clinics that:

  • Are tailored to specific age groups and abilities
  • Include 12 total hours of ice time per player
  • Are very reasonably priced (especially if you register by September 1st!)
  • Offer a later start time for our older skaters to account for school sports schedules

Player Development Program 8-11 Years Old: (Birth years 2006 – 2009)

Get a jump start to your hockey season with a pre-season clinic designed specifically for 8-year old U8 players, all U10 players and first year U12 players.  A foundation of skating skills will be set, as well as the development of modern skating concepts through challenging skills and drills.  Small area games, which are a great way to teach players higher level concepts, will be used in all sessions to keep learning fun and engaging.  Overspeed drills will also be used to help players gain comfort at high speeds. Players will be divided into groups based on age and ability. Jesse Simko will be leading these sessions with assistance from the Camden Hills Regional High School and Ice Cats coaches.

Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays the weeks of 9/18, 9/25 and 10/2

Time: 5:30 – 7:40pm

Cost: $95 prior to September 1st; $125 after September 1st

Player Development Program 12-14 Years Old: (Birth years 2005 – 2003)

This series of clinics is geared toward second year U12 players through second year U14 players and will progressively reinforce the fundamentals needed for players to safely enter the body checking level of ice hockey. The sessions will start off with a focus on introducing and refining the concepts of angling, awareness, positioning, body contact and checking, then move into more advanced checking technique and skills.  Advanced skating skills, stick work and overspeed training will also be included. Jesse Simko will be leading these sessions.

Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays the weeks of 9/18, 9/25 and 10/2

Time: 6:40 – 8:50

Cost: $95 prior to September 1st; $125 after September 1st
